“Golda Helen Marie is a young, dynamic, and goal-driven young woman, who is passionately invested in education. She is an Educationist, disability rights activist, an administrator and a trainer, with close to five years of cummulative experience in the aforementioned fields. Golda best describes herself as a critical thinker and a problem solver, who stands out in leadership in every sphere she finds herself.
Golda is very passionate about 21st century education and leads training for teachers to be able to deliver learner-centered lessons that develop relevant 21st century skills in learners, for them to excel in a fast-paced, digitized world as ours. She believes that the best way young people can contribute to achieving sustainable development is if they are guided to think critically and consequently provide sustainable solutions to pertinent global problems, starting within their communities. She currently serves as Academic Dean and Exams officer in an International College in Douala-Cameroon.
Having fallen in love with the English language during her Bachelor’s degree program in English Modern Letters, Golda has been passionate about developing English language skills and other 21st century skills in young people. This has led her to co-found a few months-old Language and learning center – ELFA: Education and Learning for All; with objective to provide state-of-the-art learning amenities to Cameroonians, to better prepare them for the world of work.
Golda is currently completing her Master’s program in Special Education. Having taken self-taught lessons on sign language, Golda’s keen interest, skill and passion in this domain has earned her several spots on National Television to talk on issues touching disability inclusion in Cameroon. During the holiday, she co-organizes and runs The Royal Academy- a holiday skills development program, training young people with skills for [self] employment. She also uses this as an avenue to create awareness about disabilities among young people by teaching them sign language and disability inclusive best practices to adopt in school, at home and in their communities. For 7 years, with her team, she has been able to train over 500 young people via this 7 program.
